NBA standings 2012: Streaking Clippers maintain Pacific Division lead

After the slate of games on Friday were completed, the Los Angeles Clippers maintained their hold on first place in the Pacific Division and are the clear-cut leaders in the battle for Los Angeles basketball supremacy.

The Los Angeles Clippers are riding a four-game winning streak going into Saturday's game against the Phoenix Suns, and are the obvious favorites to take away L.A.'s de facto city championship at this point in the young NBA season as the leaders in the Pacific Division with a 12-6 record.

The Clips, have won four straight while taking care of business against lesser teams. After an upset loss to the New Orleans Hornets at Staples Center, they defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves, Sacramento Kings, Utah Jazz and Dallas Mavericks.

They'll face the Phoenix Suns in another winnable game and could further cement themselves as the team to beat in the division.

The Los Angeles Lakers, meanwhile, are still struggling to find an identity amidst coaching changes, personnel injuries and general uncertainty and find themselves in a hole at 9-11 on the season and four games back of the division lead. They lost on Friday night to the Oklahoma City Thunder and fell to just 2-6 on the read. If they don't improve on that mark, they'll have a difficult time keeping up with the elite teams in the Western Conference.
